Sexual Abuse
Sexual abuse
is one of the least discussed yet very common forms of domestic violence.
Sexual abuse includes:
- Sexual jokes that make
the victim uncomfortable
- Treating women as sex
objects
- Criticizing the victim's
sexuality
- Using sexual jealousy as
a tool of control
- Uncomfortable or unwanted
touch (in private or in front of others)
- Withholding sex as
punishment
- Demanding sex
- Saying that if he can't
get sex from the victim, he'll get it elsewhere
- Using putdowns around
sex, i.e. saying that she's frigid, a "nympho," a terrible sex partner,
etc.
- Forcing her to watch
pornography, watching pornography when she has a problem with it
- Flaunting affairs
- Rape
- Sex after emotional or
physical abuse/violence
- Forcing the victim to
witness or participate in sexual activity with others
- Sexually assaulting the
victim in front of the children
- Sexual torture
